Measurement Principle

Each T-Pod utilizes a dual digital CCD camera measurement system. The individual cameras are surrounded by 900 LED’s to provide illumination to facilitate measurement. The two cameras have a slightly different viewing angle to the wheel. The integration of the two images produces a spatial display. This principle is similar to the way we can see in three dimensions. Two-dimensionally perceived images, from each of our eyes, are integrated in our brain to give a spatial impression.
Each of the T-Pods is equipped with its own computing capability, evaluates the stereoscopic images and then determines how the wheel is spatially positioned. This spatial image of the rim is calculated in each T-Pod by 4 digital signal processors, for a total of 16 system digital signal processors in the measurement system. The data is then processed and displayed on the computer system display.
The integrated reference system, IRES called, allows placing the t-pods free in front of the wheel of the car.

Measurement System

KameraThe effective illumination of the rim is covered by a Beissbarth developed program. It control the 1800 Infra Red LED, which are working in invisible range, depending on the ambition light and reflection of the measured rim. Again, a Beissbarth own program is responsible for the recognition of rim, irrespective of color, shape, size or cleanliness. With the combination of these two programs all kind of rims can be measured.
Sun light on the working bay does not disturb the measurement procedure or the results.
